As a bride getting married for the first time you may think that wedding cakes are all the same? I’m sorry to say but you are wrong! In my opinion a wedding cake can really set the tune for your wedding and it can easily become instagrammable and the perfect spot for pictures for you and your guests.
In this post I have selected 3 destination wedding cake trends to inspire you. As we all know, besides being tasty, a wedding cake has to be beautiful, almost a work of art.
Smaller and minimalist cakes
The minimalist style has become a big trend in weddings and destination weddings in recent years and for the cake it couldn’t be different. The cake styles that have caught my attention at the moment are those that manage to bring a minimalist aesthetic and be elegant and glamorous at the same time. Cakes with metallic effects with edible gold or silver touches are still on the rise and the “all white” is coming in full force.

One-layered cakes
The single layer cake, with delicate floral details, is an excellent option for an intimate wedding of around 10 to 15 people or even for elopements (weddings for two). Because of their size, these cakes can be made with American paste or the traditional “butter cakes” that are delicious and beautiful. I would definitely invest on a beautiful cake stand to highlight it!

Painted cakes
I have been seeing painted cakes for some years but it seems that now they are a huge trend. They are perfect for smaller cakes and the effect is simply beautiful. This type of cake is rare because the artist, in addition to cake designing, should feel very comfortable with the brushes. A lot of times the painter is not the cake designer and the result is simply amazing. I like this trend a lot because you can also use the same theme in the wedding stationary, for example.
