All my brides and social media followers know that I love taking care of my skin and that I’m crazy about makeup as well. The truth is, I’m extremely allergic and I have rosacea so I am always pretty attentive to my skin when I travel to organize my destination weddings.
You were invited for a destination wedding on the beach, and now?
Attending a destination wedding on the beach is undoubtedly the most challenging to keep your skin and hair beautiful and still create a look that lasts, considering the hot climate. Although I always recommend that the guests have their makeup and hair done with one of our professionals during a destination wedding, I know that this is not always feasible, especially on the events before the wedding, for example.
Thinking about it I prepared this post with my 10 beauty tips for brides, bridesmaids and female guests. The idea is to look beautiful at a wedding on the beach, away from your favorite salon with your incredible makeup artist and amazing hairdresser. Let’s check out the tips?
1.Sunscreen
If you are planning to arrive at the destination a few days in advance to enjoy the holidays and the sun, be careful with your skin and use sunscreen! The worst thing is to arrive with a red sunburnt face on the wedding day, right?
2. Use a soft makeup look on the beach
When we travel to a different destination our skin may become oilier or drier. Using less makeup on the beach is my ultimate tip to keep your skin beautiful. A soft makeup highlighting your features is enough to make you feel beautiful and comfortable to enjoy a day by the sea. I would opt for a light waterproof foundation with sunscreen, a long-lasting mascara and my favorite moisturizing lipstick. And that’s all!
3. Prepare your skin before applying makeup
When it comes to your skin, preparation is key! After cleaning and toning your skin, a good moisturizer for your skin type will guarantee a healthy glow. If you have imperfections like rosacea or enlarged pores like me do not forget your primer. A primer applied only to critical areas will already help to create an even surface before the makeup. This Mattifying Primer by Make Up Forever is ideal for leaving your skin matte and it is one of my favorites!
4. Take long-lasting products with you
The next step is to choose long-lasting or waterproof products for a long effect until the end of the wedding reception. Foundation, concealer, mascara, eyeshadow and eyeliner will certainly be your best friends. My tip for a fresher skin on the beach is to use a cream blush as it gives the skin a more natural look! When it comes to foundation, the Diorskin Forever line from Dior is my favorite long-lasting foundation and also the favorite of many of my brides too.
5. Keeping the skin “matte”
In order to keep your skin matte, finish the makeup with a translucent powder only on the T-zone. This will avoid the oil in that area. I particularly love Laura Mercier’s translucent powder. It is one of the best in the market and it comes in a mini version, ideal for your purse. This way you can use it for touch-ups all the time you need during the day or night and guarantee a beautiful matte skin any time.
6. Stick to creamy lipsticks
Although they do not last as much as a lipstick with a matte finish, they will leave your lips hydrated much longer. Another tip is that I always use the lip contour pencil on my lips too, so it will hold the lipstick longer.
7. For the evening invest on your eyes
A simple brown or gray smudge with eyeliner close to the lashes are perfect for an evening event. I love the brown tones of this Feel High Fidelity palette from Dior. These shades are flawless!
8. Pin your hair
As we are talking about a destination wedding on the beach, it is always good to consider the wind. And thinking of that, there is nothing better than tying your hair. Half-up hairstyles, braids and buns are more than welcome! Now if you’re not as skilled with hairstyles as myself, a ponytail is always my sure-fire tip.
9. Think about the look as a whole
Before leaving for the destination wedding, make sure you think about all your different looks. Clothes, shoes, accessories and, of course, hair and makeup. This way you can plan and take all the necessary materials and avoid the unnecessary ones. In addition to makeup, a good dry finish fixative spray is essential. Go’s Matte Fixative Spray is great for keeping your hair in order for the entire event! And I highly recommend it.
10. Bring the essential!
Do not exaggerate on the amount of makeup and cosmetics. Take the ones you are really going to use. This way you will not have to avoid any important shopping due to lack of space in your luggage. And also you will not regret carrying unnecessary luggage with you.
