When it comes to hosting a fantastic wedding there is no better place to say I DO than the city of love itself. The beauty of the city, the gastronomy as well as all the interesting things you and your guests can do in Paris, are only a few reasons to tie the knot here. The most difficult, however, is to choose the right venue for your wedding dream. After so many years organizing destination weddings and distinguished elopements in Paris I am here today to reveal my 3 favorite luxury hotels to celebrate your love in the city. These hotels encompass everything I love: they are filled with authenticity, sophistication and pretty charming details that will take your breath away.
Hôtel Plaza Athénée
Situated on the prestigious avenue Montaigne, near Champs-Elysées, this iconic hotel is perfect for those who appreciate sophistication. It is also here that you will find the prestigious restaurant by French chef Alain Ducasse of Plaza Athénée. The restaurant has been honored with three Michelin stars and is one of the best restaurants in the world.
When it comes to wedding receptions the hotel has 5 beautiful rooms. And here I have chosen two that offer you a chance to celebrate in true Parisian grandeur.
Le Salon Organza
Suitable for up to 47 seated guests, Le Salon organza is one of my favorite rooms in Plaza Athénée. This magnificent 18th century style room has a view of the hotel courtyard giving it lots of natural daylight – perfect for a day wedding.
Salon Haute Couture
Opulence meets sophistication in the magnificent Salon Haute Couture. Here your dreams and imagination will run wild as the room boasts mirrors and seven chandeliers that will marvel you and all your guests.
Ritz Paris
When in Paris you should at least visit the Ritz ! Located at Place Vendôme, the iconical square (actually an octagon) also has a Cartier, a Louis Vuitton and a Van Cleef and Arpels store, among others. Founded in 1898 the Ritz is famous for being the grand dame of the Parisian hotels. After an extensive renovation, that kept the hotel closed for 4 years, the Ritz re-opened its doors in 2016. This legendary hotel has seen celebrities, singers, politicians and royal family members and it is known for its impeccable service and unique splendor.
I personally visited the hotel and rooms after the renovation and I can say they are simply magnificent. And here are my two favorite rooms for a destination wedding at the Ritz.
Salon d’Ete and Terrace
Treat yourself with a quintessential “très chic” experience. This glass atrium with a magnificent central chandelier opens up to the hotel’s Grand Jardin, where you can also have a garden ceremony. The room is suitable for up to 90 seated guests and I particularly love the light and freshness this room can offer.
Salon Cezar Ritz and Terrace
The smaller Salon Cezar Ritz offers cozyness and privacy to its guests. It is perfectly decorated in white classic décor with a pastel green carpet and beautiful French windows bringing lots of light into the room. The salon fits up to 55 seated guests and it is a perfect alternative for a classic and intimate destination wedding.
Shangri-la Hotel Paris
This is one of my favorite hotels in Paris. The hotel belongs to the Hong-Kong luxury hotel chain Shangri-La and the Parisian hotel blends imperial France with Asian design perfectly. Located on Avenue d’lena in the luxurious 16th arrondissement the Shangri-la Paris was once the residence of French imperial prince Roland Bonaparte.
The hotel is home to Shang Palace restaurant which is the only Chinese restaurant in France to be awarded a Michelin star. I have already organized destination weddings in this luxury hotel and here I show you two event spaces that are located in its historical floor.
Le Grand Salon
Imagine a room filled with history, high French windows, crystal chandeliers and lots of gold. If you thought Salon de Miroirs in Versailles, you’re not wrong. But I was actually thinking of Le Grand Salon in Shangri-La Paris. Here you can celebrate your wedding in style with an authentic taste of the Napoleonic era. The salon fits up to 120 seated guests and it is one of the historical monuments of Paris.
Le Salon de Famille
The smaller, but not less opulent, Le Salon de Famille, has beautiful pale blue walls adorned with painted flowers. The room is perfect for an intimate ceremony or a reception hosting up to 80 guests for a seated dinner. A true beauty in the heart of Paris.
I hope you have enjoyed my selection and that I have inspired you with a touch of sophistication and authentic history for your destination wedding in Paris. See you soon !!
