Are you dreaming of saying “I do” with a castle in France serving as the backdrop of your destination wedding day?
So you are a hopeless romantic (aren’t we all!?) and an elegant bride-to-be looking forward to making your wedding unique and unforgettable. In that case a destination wedding in a castle in France is the perfect option for you.
Exchanging vows in a fairytale castle with a majestic scenery is basically the dream of every romantic couple! The most amazing thing is that France features both modern styles and an equal share of historical architecture. France is THE symbol of trending high-end fashion, rich cultural heritage, and culinary delight.
And as we know luxury weddings in France are always trending. And here I am with my favorite selection of 5 unique castles for a destination wedding in France!
Château Bouffémont
Elegant and sophisticated, surrounded by beautiful green fields, the Château Bouffemont is definitely one of my top favorites.
This luxurious small castle actually has a gorgeous bridal suite. It also has a total of 9 rooms to accommodate most of your guests for an intimate and exclusive wedding celebration. The venue was the former house of Marquise of Preignes and Baron Empain and you can feel the authentic décor in every room.
The castle can be rented for 2 or 3 nights. It is also perfectly located only 30 minutes away from Paris. A little gem very close to the city!
Château de Villette (Heritage Collection)
This wedding venue in France is surrounded by forests and meadows. And I’m sure this will create that relaxing atmosphere so much needed for your special day!
The château features 7 collection suites with a very unique décor each. Each castle suite has renovated authentic furniture and priceless pieces of art.
The castle is part of the Heritage Collection, a company that offers the most exclusive proprieties in Europe and it is located only 40 minutes from Paris.
Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte
Located in Maincy only 55 km southeast of Paris, the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte is one of the biggest and most glamorous private estates in France!
It was built between 1658 and 1661 by Nicolas Fouquet, the superintendent of finances of Louis XIV. He hired the best architects, gardeners, painters, and decorators to turn his dream into reality.
You can celebrate your wedding in the gardens or you can choose the incredible interiors of Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte to organize your luxurious wedding events. One thing is for certain though, the paintings, crystal chandeliers and amazing décor will leave you awe-struck!
Château de Chantilly
If you are a fine-art lover, the Château de Chantilly will inspire you literally within seconds. This 16th-century castle was built for Anne de Montmorecy and it is located only 40 km north of Paris. The chateau is a museum and it is open for the public during the day.
The most amazing feature about this castle is the possibility of celebrating your ceremony in a place called “Ile d’Amour” (the island of love). It’s a pretty small island located in a remote area of the domaine. You will need to organize the transportation of your guests here with your destination wedding planner but I can assure you it is pretty worth it.
The castle also has different indoor locations for dining, cocktail and party. Some rooms with paintings can be used for dinner giving a unique touch for your wedding. However, as the castle is quite big, it is more suitable for larger groups.
Hotel Château du Grand Lucé (Loire Valley)
The Hotel Château du Grand Lucé is located in the picturesque Loire Valley, a 55-minute train ride to south of Paris. It was built in the 18th century and became a luxury hotel in 2017 and it has undergone extensive renovations since then. It is one of the most unique venues for a destination wedding in France.
The hotel features classical gardens inspired by the gardens at Versailles, with perfect symmetry and a variety of flowers. Indoors the rooms are spacious and well-crafted with high-end interior décor which will give you the ultimate lifetime experience for you and your guests! This wedding venue in France is rich in history, culture, and heritage making it perfect for a classical and unique experience.
I hope that my selection of castles for destination weddings in France has inspired you.
